Snorkel and dive safaris
The Journey
begins... After passing the old Peron Homestead we travel through a real outback setting taking a “Bush Bash” on red sand tracks and across salt pans known to Aboriginals as "Birridas". This trek gets fairly rough at times but you're travelling in a sturdy off-road coach and this is all part of the fun and excitement. There is every possibility that you’ll see
extensive Australian wildlife. Look out for kangaroos, emus, snakes, exotic birds and numerous lizards. The
flora is a very hardy desert type of vegetation and totally foreign to
what most of our guests have experienced in their lives to date.
Equipment
provided
The Best Drift Dive on the West Coast We use a Zodiac inflatable to drop divers in a channel between two sections of reef. From this point you allow the gentle current to carry you along the reef observing the abundant fish, soft and hard corals, turtles and other marine life. You will be astounded at both the variety and quantity including Shark Bay species and colourful reef varieties. You may even hand feed huge batfish.
When you reach the end of your dive you simply climb up onto the reef and raise your hand. The Zodiac, nicknamed “The Limo”, will come and pick you up and take you back to the beach. The maximum depth around the reef is about four metres and at this stage we use an Australian designed and made electric “Hookah” system to provide air. Full SCUBA equipment will be introduced in time for the winter season.
A Great One Way Drift Snorkel Simply jump of the edge of the reef into about two metres of water and allow the gentle current to carry you over a myriad of wonderful marine treasures. When you have had enough the “Limo” service will be available to bring you back to the beach and save you a long swim back into the current.
Lunch
(tucker) At about 12.30 p.m.
After lunch its back into the water for another
great view of the marine
life here in Shark Bay Western Australia. Whether you've done a bit of
diving before or not, you're probably now feeling totally stoked about
today's unique adventure experience with Powerdive Shark Bay.
Snorkel
and Dive Safaris are conducted every second day, and at this stage
we are heading out each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Bookings and advance payment are essential. A maximum of 19 seats are available for each
diving safari.
